This isn't your standard rental w/ IKEA furniture & misleading photos! The Turret House sits on a large corner lot in Portland's most beautiful neighborhood (Irvington) and surrounded by stunning homes and tree-canopied streets. Broadway street is 3 blocks away & offers some of Portlandโs favorite restaurants, bars, coffee shops, bookstores, grocers, & dispensaries. My partner & I are professional designers and we worked hard to blend traditional Spanish Californian design w/ modern simplicity.
THE SPACE
Walk up the wide staircase to a magical old brick, southwest-facing patio perch that sits under a 100 year-old cedar tree and is surrounded by deciduous trees, art installations, and a sloping garden. The patio branches into a river rock path that takes you to your private entry. The stairway and path is well-light 24/7 and surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. Two Adirondack chairs are perched above the sloped, south-facing garden - great for morning coffee/brunch in the warmer months, in addition to the front patio.
The neighborhood is an architectural dream and designated as a Historic District. It features loads of streets canopied by old-growth deciduous trees. It is an ideal place from which to centrally access the city while residing in a lush oasis of European and Craftsmen architecture.
ROOM DESCRIPTIONS
- Large brick patio with double hammock, gas BBQ, dining table for 4, night lighting for evening hosting, great views, and loads of art that, together, make for a magical place to read, entertain, and relax.

- Spacious bedroom with new, queen bed, linen restoration hardware duvet, flatscreen ROKU TV, 2 dressers, large closet, and large window that opens to the yard
- High end kitchen with white tile wall, marble countertops, walnut cabinets, reclaimed fir shelves, huge deep sink and pull out faucet, stainless steel commercial JennAir range, dishwasher, and refrigerator, and all the kitchen goods needed for cooking.
- Adjacent living area with long, leather chez lounge couch - very comfortable and able to sleep 3rd person (or 3rd person can sleep on a new 4" foam mattress)
- Huge bathroom with enormous shower for 2 that includes large teak bench, white tile, and hex tile floor. The marble countertops and walnut cabinets with custom walnut-framed mirror and reclaimed fir shelves make the bathroom a divine experience.
- Extra wide hallway with gorgeous Oaxacan wall tapestry framed in walnut and extra long, reclaimed fir built-in desk and shelving for a small library of great books.
- Full laundry room with washer, dryer, and utility sink.

The space is below ground, but has several windows that bring in much light. Its an 18 min taxi from the airport. Its also 2 miles from downtown Portland and less than a mile from the Convention Center and Moda Center. Nikeโs shared bike system is 5 short blocks away. MAX is 1 mile away. Busses are 3 blocks away. Most guests use Lyft or rent a car.
There is Pet Fee for approved pets only. Cats are not allowed and only certain breeds of dogs are allowed. No other pets are allowed. You must disclose information about your pet before booking.
*Please note that this is not an ideal unit for people who don't like stairs. There are two staircases that must be walked to go to and from the unit; one flat and one that is fairly steep. There is also a river rock path that is designed for contemplation, but is not easy for large suitcases. Also, since the house is 100 years old, you can expect some sound transfer from floor to floor. If you've lived in an old house, this is normal, but if you're accustomed to a new house, then it may bother you. We do our best to attract guests who maintain a civil level of noise.
