Positive: The property is in the heart of Polmont, so easy walking to supermarket, bar restaurant, buses easily accessible to Falkirk, and surrounding areas, and trains also easily accessible to Falkirk, Edinburgh or Glasgow or Stirling, or smaller surrounding areas. And if driving then the motorway is right next to Polmont so easy to arrive exactly at destination, just put in Heart of Scotland Holidays on google maps and takes you right to the property doors. Also easy to get to Loch Lomond from here too. Once at the property you follow a small road from Bo’ness Road to the manner house (reception), plenty of parking, and the log cabins are in the garden areas round the side of the manner house. Beautiful trees and a pond and swings for children to play in. I was worried about driving on the mainland Scotland (as we are from Shetland and not used to motorways or busy traffic), but Heather was so forthcoming with easy instructions on how to get to the property, and where we could stop off on the way. We instead arrived by train and Heather offered to collect us and take us round the area and then to the accommodation. She was really lovely and welcoming, and I felt I could ask her anything I was unsure about. On arrival we could see a communal hut which has plenty of washing machines and tumble driers, and extra cooking facilities. It also has a Velcro darts board for family playing times we enjoyed. You can ask for extra games if staying for longer, but we just stayed the weekend so didn’t need it. The accommodation, The Logstack, is really beautiful and cosy. Everything you need in a small space, but still plenty of room to feel at home. Plenty of storage areas too. And I didn’t need to use the communal cooking are as we had hobs, pots, pans, microwave, fridge, small freezer compartment, and plenty of dishes and utensils. Very cosy apartment, we felt warm all night even with the Scottish cold temperatures, and slept all night. Very comfy beds.
Negative: When I needed to go outside in the evening for a cigarette, I would walk to the front of the communal area to the sand bucket. There was an outside light on my property at the Logstack, but it was movement operated, so when I walked to the communal area I was just out of range, and there was no light outside the communal area. However there was a torch provided in the Logstack so I did use that. It is pitch black in the garden area at night, which makes it lovely and countryside like, and I got used to using the torch. So not even a qualm with the property or area, everything was spot on, and we felt so at home.
