Positive: We loved the property and location. The apartment was comfortable and clean, with a good shower. Our room also had a great view and a balcony with chairs and a table. The town was a short walk away & has several simple, friendly restaurants, shops & a small supermarket. There is also adequate free street parking in the area on days when the town is not closed on public holidays & for celebrations. We would definitely stay there again, were it not for the totally inadequate and frustrating communications by the owner / agent.

Negative: Exceptionally bad communication from owner/agent. Messages generally answered by automated reply in booking.com chat app, with no/very delayed response from owner/agent. Informed on day before arrival of festa in town that day & couldn’t drive car to apartment. Parked 700m away, costing €4 & carried luggage up a steep hill, through crowds. Outdoor access gate sticks badly & has a broken handle. Difficult to open & caused a minor hand injury. Owner/agent messaged us prior to arrival asking for arrival time. We replied several times, also asking how to enter the property. Had automated reply & arrived 1 hour late because of the festa. Found access details posted online by previous guest so managed to get in. No owner/agent reply until next day. No information about which room was ours. Checked all 3 rooms & took only room which was prepared & clean. No obvious WiFi code, but finally found it. No welcome-pack. Bad WiFi upstairs in our room, OK downstairs in kitchen area, though kept dropping out. Hairdryer had large plug which didn’t fit smaller sockets in room. Couldn’t use it without adapter which wasn’t supplied. Owner/agent contacted us next morning asking us to ring them. Explained they were very busy & tired when we arrived, so went to bed early. They didn’t realise access code was on line. No info about breakfast. Found out-of-date food in fridge & rubbish in kitchen waste bin. Messaged owner/agent for advice & asked to ring them. Told to visit nearby cafe & ring again so they could talk to the owner. Got breakfast. Suggest future guests avoid included breakfast & visit Antica Dolceria dell‘Etna instead which is better quality and value. As asked, we sent photographs of passports to owner/agent, using supplied e-mail address. Messaged 2 days later as they couldn't find the e-mail so asked us to send photos by WhatsApp - number not supplied.

Summary: Great accommodation & location. Totally useless communication with owner/agent, wasting our time.
