Positive: The property is lovely as is Grange. The owners have made a comfortable cottage and are being severely let down by Sykes the management company.
Negative: The directions given are awful, everyone got lost including the plumber who came to restart the boiler. There was an empty packet of firelighters and no kindling on arrival in the dark after a long drive. Everywhere else I’ve stayed has a set fire. Also an overflowing coffee machine with empty capsules and full drip tray, drawers not properly cleaned and not a pinch of salt or drop of oil in the house (I left some). So you are very much camping and having to bring everything. The oil ran out and so we had a day with no heating or hot water. We were offered £100 ‘goodwill gesture’ but couldn’t discuss anything because Sykes don’t answer the phone or respond to any emails which have to be sent via booking.com. The only bad experience I’ve had booking through this site, and every other hotel or cottage manager gets back immediately with messages. Photo shows time waiting to get Sykes to answer the phone.
