Positive: The apartment is nice, on top of a hill called Monte. There is a bus stop(22) just before and after the house where it is situated. It’s like the garage of it, but modified to an apartment. The owners live upstairs. As many said, there is lot of humidity, even with the air con on dry or heat setting, windows and front door were full of water in the morning. The apartment has everything you need, even more. Has some toiletries and even some food that I suppose other guests left, as well as some treats from the owner. If you take an organized tour, maybe the location is not ideal, as they don’t consider Monte as Funchal- even though it is- they either charge you an extra for pick up- but not in the apartment -or they tell you to go down to the center, which can take 30 minutes by bus- as the bus isn’t that frequent, specially in the morning. On the other hand, Monte palace is walking distance , uphill, as well as the Botanical gardens, the ‘ cesta de mimbro’ rides also are walking distance as well as the cable car- which is convenient. If you aren’t afraid of walking a bit uphill, is a good choice. The location is quiet, I didn’t hear any dogs barking, as I read in some other reviews.
